Thank you Lorraine for the tip to try the archives for that "lost" map re Dulverton Manor. I did that and found several items of interest, including my thankyou to some kind person named Sue, who'd sent me a 1900 map reference....BUT, alas,in that thread was the thankyou only, not the message she'd sent me. I'm trying to find the location of a patch of land leased by the brothers ACLAND [Josh, Francis, and Baldwin], from one Humphrey Sydenham, in 1709. The plots of land were called New Invention and Camworthy. There was also in the archives an amusing to-and-fro of emails about the old legend of a highwayman, and suggestions the name New Invention may have come from the Industrial Revolution, with a lovely notion of the Spinning Jenny being superseded by the "gently revolving Margaret". Thanks again for those replies, way back in 2004. Can anyone help further please? Pam in Yack
