Hello Everyone, Just to announce that our webpage for Crewkerne (www.CrewkerneOPC.com) has grown. Thanks to the generous help of our son, who is a programmer at Microsoft, and our wonderful transcribers, we have the following exciting changes: 1) It now includes Timsbury and offers help looking up images and transcripts for that town 2) It has added many more transcripts for Crewkerne with still more to come 3) All entries now include ALL data for that entry including notes or comments 4) When a page is opened, there are now links at the top to earlier and following pages 5) It should open faster (except it opens more information so may seem slower) Best to all of you for all you do, Godfrey & Merry Ellis OPCs for Crewkerne & Timsbury in Somerset

HI List, I have joined your list as I am helping my sister in law with her Somerset lines. In the GRO marriage index for June Q. 1881 at Taunton there is a EDWIN HAWKINS married to a MARY JANE TAMES. Again no Tames births around 1853 ( age 48 in 1901 census ) I believe she may well be MARY JANE JAMES born Dec Q. 1853. Anybody researching these names ? would love to sort this out. Thanks for any help. Daphne New Zealand.
Hi List , I have just joined your list as I am helping a sister in law with her family. MARY ANN CEARLEY is listed on the GRO index as who has married a RICHARD TOM DREW ( sometines DREWE ) Dec Q 1886 Taunton District I cannot find any CEARLEY on the birth index and think she might be CHORLEY, 2 on the birth index in Taunton 1863 and 1869 but age in census points to 1867 !! Anybody researcing these names, or ideas on Mary Ann's surname. Thanks for any help. Daphne New Zealand.

Where have you looked for this information? You should be able to find your man's birth in www.freebmd.org.uk It may be possible to find his baptismal and burial dates, but not his birth or death dates without purchasing the relevant certificates. You'll probably/possibly need www.familyrelatives.com or www.findmypast.com or www.ancestry.co.uk for his death reference but that will give you his age at death which will in turn give you a better idea of when he was born. -- Charani (UK) OPC for Walton, SOM http://wsom-opc.org.uk
Would SKS please help? I am trying to trace the following person without much success at the moment. William Saunders son of William James Saunders of Clatworthy, Somerset. Born Approx. 1908 - 1911 Died aged approx 14 years at Clatworthy. Any idea's please? Many thanks in advance, Steve

Dear Martin and Janet, many thanks for your help - what a very helpful list this is. I look forward to being able to repay the favour in some way. Regards Peter Killow -----Original Message----- From: Martin Southwood [mailto:martinsouthwood@btinternet.com] Sent: 14 April 2008 20:41 To: eng-somerset@rootsweb.com Cc: peterL@Killow305.fsnet.co.uk; Janet Cridland Subject: Re hello List and other replies. Peter, (and Janet), As I was going into Taunton today, I thought I would visit the Somerset Studies Library and talk to the fount of all knowledge there, only he doesnt come in on Mondays! However, his colleague put me right in investigating the West Somerset Free Press for 1967 and very quickly I found the death notice for Reginald Crundell Punnett on 3rd. Jan. 1967. It only had three lines and described him as a Professor of Genetics at Cambridge, aged 92. When I had moved on to the Record Office at Obridge, I had a look in their online catalogue for "Punnett" and there were 2 entries. One was before RCP's time and referred to a Will in the Bath area of a Sarah Howey Punnett but the other referred to "Alterations and extensions to Bilbrook House, (Punnett)" and dated 1940. This obviously being yours, it looks as if RCP possibly owned Bilbrook House by 1940, probably planning for retirement. I've also looked at Access to Archives (A2A) and there are 48 references to "Punnett" at least 6 of which are to RCP who, it would appear, was a Professor by 1917! If I find any more, I'll let you know, Regards, Martin Southwood -- No virus found in this incoming message. Checked by AVG.
