    3. It's interesting to put Chiselborough Osborne into Google - you get over 4000 hits. This is the first of them: http://www.nortonsubhamdon.org.uk/history/1901%20Chiselborough%20Census.htm, so there were still some Osbornes in Chiselborough in 1901. There is an Eli Chapman in the 1841 census who I think might be her brother since she had a son Eli Seymour. John & Martha Seymour subsequently lived at Barton St Davids and then at Street. Author: DaveBoylan Surnames: Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/localities.britisles.england.som.general/12886.1/mb.ashx Message Board Post: Hello Therra, The Latter Day Saints (LDS) website contains the baptism indexes for both Robert Steel and his sister Caroline, showing they were baptized in the Paul Street Independent Church, in Taunton. This means it's possible their parents may have also been married in this parish and baptized there as well. More research would be needed to find out however. The LDS website can be found at www.fasmilysearch.org The baptism indexes for Robert and Caroline come with microfilm source information. The full baptism records for each child can be found in the microfilm for the Paul Street Independent Church. The indexes follow: ROBERT STEEL Male Event(s): Birth: Christening: 25 DEC 1819 Paul Street Independent, Taunton, Somerset, England Death: Burial: Parents: Father: ROBT. STEEL Mother: SARAH Messages: Extracted birth or christening record for the locality listed in the record. The source records are usually arranged chronologically by the birth or christening date. Source Information: Batch No.: C083961 Date: 1699 - 1837 Film Number: 0825387 = Births, baptisms and burials, 1699-1837: Paul Street Chapel (Taunton, Somerset : Independent) Printout Call No.: 1037028 = Parish register printouts of Taunton, Somerset, England (Independent, Paul Street) ; christenings, 1699-1837 ____ CAROLINE STEEL Female Event(s): Birth: 13 AUG 1822 Christening: 19 MAY 1823 Paul Street Independent, Taunton, Somerset, England Death: MAY 1824 Burial: Parents: Father: ROBERT STEEL Mother: SARAH Source Information: Batch No.: C083961 Date: 1699 - 1837 Film Number: 0825387 = Births, baptisms and burials, 1699-1837: Paul Street Chapel (Taunton, Somerset : Independent) Printout Call No.: 1037028 = Parish register printouts of Taunton, Somerset, England (Independent, Paul Street) ; christenings, 1699-1837 ____ A copy of the actual Paul Street Independent Church parish registers can be found on LDS microfilm number 0825387. The registers cover the years 1669-1837. The microfilm can be ordered from your Family History Center. These registers may be difficult to read because of age, poor handwriting, faded copies, water stains, etc. While I suggest you order the film of the original copies of the church registers, I also recommend ordering the computer printout copy of the parish registers of christenings for the Paul Street Independent Church, as these are transcribed into typescript, which will make the records easier to read. These are on microfilm number 1037028. If Robert Steel or his wife Sarah were baptized in the Paul Street Independent Church, their baptism entries may on this microfilm, as well as on film number 0825387. Also found at the LDS website was the marriage index for Robert Steel and Sarah, though Sarah's maiden name is not given in the index. The index shows the marriage took place in the St. Mary Magdalene Church in Taunton circa 1818. St. Mary's is a Church of England parish. This index was submitted to the LDS by a member of the LDS, but unfortunately does not come with microfilm source information. Many of these un-sourced indexes found on the LDS website are accurate, but others are not, which means the date and the marriage location are suspect. The index follows: Robert STEEL Male Event(s): Birth: Christening: Death: Burial: Marriages: Spouse: Sarah STEEL Marriage: About 1818 Stmary Magdelene, Taunton, Somerset, England Messages: Record submitted after 1991 by a member of the LDS Church. No additional information is available. Ancestral File may list the same family and the submitter. FHL BRITISH Film 1471104 Items 1-2 ____ If Robert Steel had been born circa 1793 his baptism most likely would not be in this microfilm if this were the parish of his family, as the year 1793 is not represented. But you can look for his baptism in any case, as in some instances, children in Protestant denominations, were not baptized immediately after they were born. But, you can also look at film number 1471104 to see if the marriage of Robert Steel and Sarah is recorded. If you cannot find information about the baptisms of Robert or Sarah in the Paul Street Independent Church registers, or if their marriage is not recorded in the St. Mary Magdalene Church of England registers, you will have to consider expanding your research to other churches in Taunton.
