Hi all I'm new to the list from downunder. I am researching the HALLIFAX family. One member Rev Joseph HALLIFAX was the Church of England minister at Brean from 1859 to 1882 when he died. He was married to Clara Isabella HARDWICKE and they had 12 children. Joseph and Clara were a bit tricky in that most of the children were registered unnamed and were not named until their baptisms. Is anyone connected? I am told a Veronica WILLIAMS known as Joy from Outer Hebrides is researching the family but I can't get a from reply her email address last known in 2003. Does anyone know her? Hi Daphne Cont no 1 High Street would be COURT No1 High Street and would certainly be within the Parish of St Mary Magdalene as it is only a few hundred yards away, Holy Trinity is a relatively new Parish and I believe it was still part of St Marys in 1901, I know from experience that the records of Holy Trinity had not been filmed in the SRO but the original registers are available there. Strangely enough I have connections with both of these addresses and have some records of a HAWKINS family in Taunton Regards Patrick Williams > -----Original Message----- > From: eng-somerset-bounces@rootsweb.com [mailto:eng-somerset-bounces@rootsweb.com] > On Behalf Of John Scott > Sent: 29 April 2008 22:47 > To: eng-somerset@rootsweb.com > Subject: [ENG-SOM] Parishes in TAUNTON > > Hi List, > > Could some kind person tell me about the parishes of Taunton please. > I have 2 census pages for the 1901 census both say Taunton St Mary Magdelene, > > one then says Holy Trinity Taunton, East Ward, looks like Vesey St. no 20 family of > HAWKINS. > > the other is also St Mary Magdelene part of Taunton, Cont No1 High Street, next family > DREW. > > Now which parish should I look in for baptisms, St Mary Madelene or Holy Trinity ? > > Any help in sorting out the parishes would be very helpful. > > Thanks > Daphne > New Zealand. Hi List, Could some kind person tell me about the parishes of Taunton please. I have 2 census pages for the 1901 census both say Taunton St Mary Magdelene, one then says Holy Trinity Taunton, East Ward, looks like Vesey St. no 20 family of HAWKINS. the other is also St Mary Magdelene part of Taunton, Cont No1 High Street, next family DREW. Now which parish should I look in for baptisms, St Mary Madelene or Holy Trinity ? Any help in sorting out the parishes would be very helpful. Thanks Daphne New Zealand.

They'll also have the Quarter Sessions records. These are not available online. You could also try the Gale newspaper archive. It could be that mother and dau tried to commit crimes that would get them transported as well. That has been known to have happened. -- Charani (UK) OPC for Walton, SOM http://wsom-opc.org.uk

This is the progress report promised a while back. Through Sierra I was put on to tony@twrcomputing.co.uk Their advice was " For Vista you will need v8.5A and yes, we have the latest Generations v8.5a in stock. Version 8.5a is Windows XP compatible and works on Vista too. The price is £19.95. Your existing family files are 100% compatible with v8.5a. We provide full instructions, and help if you need it." This seems to point the way forward. ----- Original Message ----- From: "RAYMOND MITCHELL" <ray@mitchell27.fsnet.co.uk> To: <eng-somerset@rootsweb.com> Sent: Sunday, November 25, 2007 7:54 PM Subject: Re: [ENG-SOM] Transferring progs.and records > Thank you, Michael, to you and to all the other kind Listers who replied so > generously to my enquiry. It appears from other parts of this thread that you are descended from James' 2nd marriage to Margaret Dollen/Dolling. If you want more info on descendants of James' son Philip and Mary Aplin, please let me know. Would be interested in anything re any other branch of James Phillips family by either wife. Hello Listers, My Grandmother remarried in 1918. She was a widow and married a widower. Would they have had to produce documented proof of death to marry again? Ron
