Celia and Laurie Thanks to your input I have now discovered that Arthur Osborne my Gt Grandfather died in 1942, also found out that he married again after Kate Osborne (1st wife) died in 1928. The Arthur Frederick Samuel Osborne was my Great Uncle who died in 1928 of chronic pneumonia, exhaustion and melancholia! Many thanks for pointing e in the right direction. The earliest of my Osbornes I have is Samuel born 1758 in Chiselborough, Somerset, married to Elizabeth Blackmoor, they had a son Samuel, married to Hester Genge (her birth is a mystery). Hi List Some advice required. When I first started this Journey I had some paid research carried out which supplied Names from Chilthorne Domer and Thorne Coffin Parish Registers I have since managed to tie in all but 2 supplied names.(1) Anne LITTLE who married a Richard HANN from her death record her Baptism falls in a period with missing registers. (2) Charles LITTLE buried 1851 aged 99 from Axminster. I have searched for the death record for Charles LITTLE to no avail but whilst Checking the PR for Chilthorne Domer found the entry for Charles LITTLE entered as Charles TAYLOR with Taylor crossed out and LITTLE written over. Crossed checked the GRO and found Charles TAYLOR entered in the Axminster RD. in the correct quarter. So is it LITTLE or TAYLOR. Thanks Gerwyn LITTLE
Hi List, I have been trying to sort through my HUNT ancestors and have found a possible marriage of Sarah SMITH (parents James Smith and Hanah Hunt) in Old Cleeve in 1843. Is anyone able to confirm this and/or add to this please? Di Crystal Mundaring Perth, Western Australia
Hi Diana Richard CRIDLAND, son of John CRIDLAND (1786-1833) and Mary HOWEL (1773?-1846), married Sarah SMITH 7 October 1843 at St Andrews, Old Cleeve. Richard was a Blacksmith and he and Sarah had 8 children that I know of. I have not investigated Sarah SMITH, but I can take Richard CRIDLAND's line back a fair way if you'd like to contact me direct. I had not read your original message only the reply you received...so some of the information was incorrect. However, I did find Robert Cann married Catherin Lock in North Molton, DEVON. This was on the LDS site. The batch number is M522811. The date is 13 May 1821. I also found them in the 1851 census. In 1851 census the family was living in the civil parish of Exford, the Ecclesiastic parish of Bath and Wells, in the county of SOMERSET. Catherine is listed as age 57, born about 1794, in North Molton, DEVON. Robert is listed as born in 1779 so he was about 15 years older than Catherine. His birthplace is given as Exford, SOMERSET. Exford is nine miles from North Malton. Children living with them in 1851 are Michael, born 1842 and John, born 1822. Both were listed as born in Molland, DEVON. Molland is about 7 miles from Exford, SOMERSET. I didn't find George in the 1851 census and now reading your message I can see why. I looked for Robert's christening/birth on the LDS site but couldn't find him. However, Catherine's parents were Margaret and George. Catherine also had a brother Michael and a sister Betty. IGI batch number is C052281. You might find Robert's birth in the parish transcripts. I'll have a quick look and will send you another message if I find him. Hope this helps. kind regards Valerie Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. There is quite a deal of information on the Vagg family as Merv Vagg, did a lot of research on the family in the 1960s - however, as they say, there is always new information to find! I am particularly interested in the Nicholas family at present as they represent another branch of ancestors on my mother's side. The information I have at present is that Robert Nicholas was born in Somerset somewhere, about 1811, married Ann or Anna Hannan (though
