    3. Roger I can't help with the parents of Elizabeth FRY, except to say the name doesn't appear in either of the Seavingtons' baptisms for the relevant time. However you mention Sarah Vickery. Sarah died in Seavington St Michael in 1825 aged 84. Impossible to prove but I believe Sarah was sister to my 4G grandfather, Jonathan Vickery. If so their parents are probably John & Mary Vickery from Lopen. Lopen might be where you find your Elizabeth Fry. Bev ps if my theory is correct we are 6th cousins. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Roger Harris" <rogerharris@cyg.net> To: <eng-somerset@rootsweb.com> Sent: Tuesday, May 27, 2008 2:46 PM Subject: Re: [ENG-SOM] FRY > List: > I only have one FRY in my family. 3. I just have marriages but maybe some of the names will help your research for William Hockey's parents and Martha Walter's parents. John Hockey, widower, of Charlton Adam married Mary Oborn of Charlton Mackrell in Charlton Mackrell on the 16th of November 1807. John Hockey, miller, married Elizabeth Hockey in Charlton Mackrell (both of Charlton Mackrell) on 4 March 1794 John Hockey of Charlton Adam married Jane Hutchins of Charlton Mackrell on 12 October 1789 Thomas Hockey married Elizabeth Shepard 20 September 1789 Thomas Hockey of Charlton Mackrell married Grace House 12 April 1792 in Charlton Adam John Walter married Jane Pittman 26 July 1778 - this is a stretch to be Martha's parents.... hope this helps Valerie ----- Original Message ----- From: "Gwen Callaghan" <Gwen.Callaghan@rsc-em.ac.uk> To: <eng-somerset@rootsweb.com> Sent: Tuesday, May 27, 2008 2:34 AM Subject: Re: [ENG-SOM] HOCKEY FAMILY > Hello Kay > I have 2 William Hockeys in my family tree, but they both originate from > Montacute mid to late 1700s and not Charlton Adam. You'd need to check the parish registers to see if there was a baptism around that time. You'd be able to hire the films from your local LDS FHC if you can't get to the record office. If you don't have an LDS FHC near, then it may mean hiring a researcher to check the registers for you, starting with Churchstanton and then searching the neighbouring parishes in an ever widening circle until you found someone of the right name at the right time. OSBORN(E) is a common name so you may not be absolutely sure it is the right one. Needles and haystacks do come to mind.

    2. Hi List, Thank you to everyone for the advice on my Bendall family. While looking at other counties, I came across the following information, and I would like the lists opinion, if you think it is worth persuing. John BENDALL age 70 (Army Pensioner) Mary BENDALL age 60 Born: Hampshire England Civil Parish: Eling Hundred: Redbridge Country: England Registration District: New Forest Sub Registration District: Eling Enumeration District 7B Folio: 61 Page !6 Line 2 GSU roll 288801 I also have two pieces of information on George and Sarah's daughter Harriett Bendall. 1) On 16th October 1837 Harriett Bendall of Marshwood, daughter of George Bendall Chairmaker at Eling, married Nathaniel Palmer of the 2nd Battalion Royal Artillery, son of Nathaniel Palmer Cabinet Maker, witnesses Hary Palmer and Jane Stride. 2) (From the Bath Chronicle) Married 16th October at Eling, Southampton Na thaniel Palmer 24th Battalion Royal Artillery to Harriett Bendall of this City. My George c1784 has been given in various documents as a chairmaker, awheelchair maker and a wheelchair man. I wondered if you think it is likely that John c1771 and George c1784 are siblings or at the very least cousins. I would value your opinions as I have no-one to bounce this idea off of. Thanks in anticipation Pauline

    3. List: I only have one FRY in my family. Elizabeth FRY married 1793 to Nathaniel MUSGROVE b.1765 s/o Thomas MUSGROVE and Sarah VICKERY. Nathaniel and Elizabeth had 8 children all baptized at Seavington St.Michael. Their 3rd child, Jane MUSGROVE b.1802 marries 1820 to Aaron BLAKE and were the parents of my great grandmother, Charlotte BLAKE who married James HARRIS 24 March 1844. Would really like to know Elizabeth FRY's parents.
