    1. [ENG-SOM] Help with 1901 Census
    2. Ronald Chesney
    3. Hi All I wonder if someone can give me some assistance with my problem I have been following a William Henry Chanin I found him in the 1861Census and 1871 Census as a Boy. but could not find him in the 1881Census, I found him again in the 1891 census but under the surname Channon he was married with two children and living in Taunton. I have been searching the 1901 census but unable to find him or his family and I have tried a number of spelling of the name with no luck. I recently found in the Kelly's Directory of Taunton 1879 William Henry Chanin living at 3 Middle Street Taunton. And again in the Kelly's Directory of Taunton 1902 Wm Hy Chanin living in 3 Middle Street Taunton I was wonder if anyone had access to the 1901 census film of Taunton and could get me the information of who is living in 3 Middle Street Taunton or could tell me where I could look at the film of that area. Thanks for any assistance with my request. Ron Ronald Chesney Australia Phone +61 2 46258728 rchesney@optusnet.com.au

His family was from Cheddar, but hers was from nearby Rodney-Stoke. My great grandfather, Arthur Thomas Reeves was born there in 1871, and emigrated to the Town of Lysander in Onondaga County (near Syracuse) on May 21, 1890, which is where I live today. Two of Arthur's brothers, George and Frederick, moved here, where George married Arthur's wife's sister and Frederick remained a lifelong bachelor. Arthur's other siblings included Edward (Draycott), Elsie, Harold, Annie Lucken (Draycott), and Florrie (Draycott). I have a great deal of information about Arthur's siblings, along with several of his uncles, aunts, and cousins (Reeves, Durston, Bowering, Binning, Starr, etc.), all of whom emigrated to upstate NY in the mid-1800's. But, I have very little information about Arthur's parents, or his uncles and aunt! s who stayed in Draycott. I am actually writing a book about him, including my transcriptions of his diaries from the 1890's, which I've promised to share with my cousins at our annual family reunion in August 2008. Can we exchange information? Please let me know. Thanks in advance for your help. 3. Hello Valerie, Thank you for your reply, I found the marriage of your Sarah and James Moger on FreeBMD and will put the information to oneside --just in case ! I have a James in my tree who was an elder brother to my 4xgrt grandfather William Batchelor Moger. James married Dorothea Henrietta Bond around 1799/1800. I think James was born in Bath. His younger brother George set up Mogers Bank in Bath. I thought I'd send you this snippet which might be of use to you at some time. I have managed to link John to his parents John CLOTHIER (1808-1875) and Mary ?FLAGG (1810-1845) and the other 11 children of this family. I am interested in how this family links to the other Somerset CLOTHIER's particularly prior to the 1800's and any other CLOTHIER's who emigrated to South Australia in the 1850's and 1860's (there were 9 other's indicated in the SA records). They all appear to be farmers Leesa

    2. David & Maggie Mattock
    3. Hello, I wonder if anyone can help with some information, please. We have just received a death certificate for one of my husband's MATTOCK ancestors, showing that he died at POPLAR FARM in KINGSTON SEYMOUR. Robert Southwood Mattock, died aged 78 at this farm, and it seems that it was the home of his son, John Victor Mattock. Previous to this the last information we had about John Victor Mattock was of his service in the First World War. We would be very interested in any information about the farm, or indeed about either of these people. Many thanks, Maggie Mattock
