In the reply to my original enquiry from Pat Hase, it is mentioned that a grave in Weston Super Mare Cemetary had an inscription of "Of your charity pray for the soul of Margaret, beloved wife of Wilfred Edwin Watkin, F.R.C.S." etc. - I am wondering what these initials means. He was an artist and upon receiving the death certificate shows him as an artist. Our family actually has a painting of his. A 2nd question now is - I notice their address in 1916 was 44 South Rd, Weston Super Mare (is this house still standing) and this is the same address that my grandfather Wilfrid Bradley Watcyn used during the war in 1916. Note the spelling of his name he used when coming to Canada and returning to England to join the RASC as an ambulance driver. I am wondering if there is anything about his death in Weston Super Mare. Many thanks again . Carole Marshall and hope to visit the cemetary and a couple of houses when I come over in April.

She sailed from London on the Mary III on 16 April 1835 and arrived in Sydney on 6 September 1835. As far as I know no members of Mary's family accompanied her out there. The only family I know of in Australia come from her two marriages. I recently discovered that she spent five months in Maitland Gaol in 1861 for attempting to kill her second husband (my ancestor) with a knife! Apparently, her husband made sure that all knives in the household were blunt, due to his wife's excitable disposition. This isn't relevant to the research, really, but I thought you might find it amusing. It also made me much more interested in finding out where she came from. Hi Betty, For Frome research, there is an excellent site at: http://www.fromeresearch.org.uk/ There is a link on the main page to a Mail List of Frome researchers, where you will find a wonderful array of transcriptions - you do need to register, but it is free. Another source of links to online transcriptions is Ian Sage's Somerset PR Transcription page: http://myweb.tiscali.co.uk/ian.sage/PR/pr_index.html And of course, there is FreeREG, which is updated monthly so you should bookmark and return to it regularly: http://www.freereg.org.uk/ I do have a HUMPHREYS connection in Frome, but I haven't worked on that line - too busy transcribing!
