    3. Dear all, After a little discussion on and off group, another social and family history meeting will be held this year on October 15th at the Salthouse, Clevedon - the same venue as last year. The Salthouse is easily accessible for those travelling from the north, east or west by car; we can arrive from mid-morning, and lunch will be available from their new menu (to be pre-ordered in due course). For those bringing laptops, we are promised use of a few extension leads and an internet connection. This is always a friendly event and you may even find yourself sitting next to an unknown distant cousin. (I know I have!) All with an interest in family history in the wider region of Bristol and the surrounding counties of Somerset and Gloucestershire are very welcome. Please note this event is not for discussion on list. If you have questions, if you want to attend or just to be kept informed about the event, please contact me direct at [email protected] If you cannot attend, but would like to be added to our "absent friends" list, also let me know by email and you can raise a glass with us at 1:00pm UK time. Hoping to see as many of you as possible in October, Ian

    2. The Lewis family
    3. The CWGC website might help but he might not have been a Royal Marine at that time. However if he was in the RM, the UK national archives has the list of RM enlisted men up to 1925 from which I was able find my wife's grandfather and his discharge date. You can download (about 4 pounds) the attestation form as a .pdf file. It takes a bit of navigating and I haven't been to the National Archives site for a while but it's worth a try. 1. [ENG-SOM] JAMES COLES Brompton Ralph
    2. James COLES was a brother of my grandfather, and born Brompton Ralph c. 1883. I have found him on the 1911 Census at Royal Marines Barracks in Plymouth but think he might have died in WW1. There were quite a few casualties of the same name so it's hard to identify him. He was possibly married in 1903 to Harriet LANGDON with two children by 1911. Any clues would be appreciated. Thanks. 1. [ENG-SOM] BRISTOW family of Wellington Somerset and BRAYLEY
    2. Hello I am looking for information about Mary Ann Bristow born in Wellington Somerset. She married Francis J Brayley 3rd Q 1893 South Molton Devon. Her age on the 1901 census was shown as 44 (b 1857). They were living at 165 Chester Road, Northwich. I found a Francis J Brayley in Battersea but I am not sure if it is Mary Ann's husband because there were two Francis's born in South Molton circa 1870-1871. I would be very grateful for any information. Thank you. Angela
