Hi Glenys I see your problem. The only way I know (as you can't find them on the 1841 census, etc though what about his mother or his siblings, if he had any?) would be to obtain the microfilm of Wistanstow parish registers through the Latter Day Saints folk at one of their family history libraries. $5 per microfilm in Australia. Generally, by 1821, most parish priests and curates would insert the address of the parents as well as the occupation of the father. When I say address though, it would be fairly general such as the town itself, Wistanstow, or perhaps one of the outlying villages, hamlets or districts. At least it is a start. Might well be worth a look at. Just wondering about the Richard Speakes, christened Bromfield 5 Feb 1815 to parents Joseph & Mary, and Thomas Speakes christened Bromfield 3 Nov 1816 belong to the same family. Bromfield is soooo very close to Wistanstow. The coincidence might just be more than that, then again it could be another family. Cheers Graham Melbourne Oz
