I have a William HUMPHREYS and Elizabeth JONES who were supposedly married prior to August 1866 when their first daughter was born. A search of the St Martins Parish Register and a search by the Shropshire Register Office have failed to locate a marriage for this couple. In the 71- 91 censuses Elizabeth is always shown as born St Martins about 1847 although William HUMPHREYS has various birth places although I suspect it may have been Selattyn. Any help would be appreciated as this is my brick wall. Regards, Daff West Western Australia.

As William was a canal boatman is it possible that the marriage could have taken place anywhere along the canal network? Ian
