Hi Ian, I have also wondered if they may have been married along the canals. I have been hoping, as Elizabeth has always stated she was born St Martins, all the children were born there also and she lived her married life in the area that she had not moved away prior to marriage. I have located William Humphreys in 1871 on his boat at Whitchurch where he states he was born St Martins and also in 1901 he lists St Martins. If he is the William born Selattyn then St Martins may have been where he thought he was born as his mother remarried when he was 7 and the family lived at St Martins Moors. Thanks for the suggestion. Are you familiar with the St Martin's area? There are some excellent images on the Geograph site. Take a look at: http://www.geograph.org.uk/photo/51920 (the canal at St Martins Moor where the family were living in 1881) http://www.geograph.org.uk/photo/51956 http://www.geograph.org.uk/photo/51921 but there are also a lot more, thanks to John Haynes. They will give you a good idea of the area you are dealing with. Ian
