Would appreciate some information on St. Michael's church in Shrewsbury. I tried a google search and did not seem to find it. Is it still standing? Has it combined with another parish? Apparently the church yard was cleard of tombstones at some point? Any pictures on the web? TIA Anne in Aurora IL
Hello Anne in Aurora IL An 1870 directory gives the following, which I have shortened somewhat. St. Michael's Church Shrewsbury, building in Doric style. Suburb of Castle Foregate. Consecrated 1830, enlarged 1855, sittings for about 1100 people. Living is a vicarage yearly value £135. More up to date is: http://www.sacbr.org.uk/S'y%20Michael/Shrewsbury,%20St%20Michael.htm saying closed in 1976 and bells removed, and a good picture. Jo in Shropshire UK. !
