I also have a MATHER connection which I have not worked on but will include the couple of bits that I have -- in the event that either of you think there might be a connection. Anne in Aurora IL 1)I have an Anne MATHER marrying an Edmund Goodbehere in 1751 at Carsington, Derbyshire. 2)Letter sent by Sarah Goodbehere Needham (grandaughter of Edmund and Anne Mather Goodbehere) to her brother George Thomas Goodbehere at No. 5 Silvester Row, Hackney, London. I don't know who the Mr. Mather is who is referred to in the letter but am guessing that there is a family connection In 1820 Sarah was about 35 year old and had 3 young children at the time. Her brother George (George Thomas) was about 34 years old and had several young children. Macclesfield, Sept 14th. 1820 My dear George/ No doubt you are anxious to know what is passing1 here respecting this unaccountable transaction - Miss Needham came here from Lee-Hale to day, she was there on a visit when Mr. Mather2 received the three letters yours, mine & Mr. Stephenson’s3. He was greatly affected, I quite aquit him of intending the very great injury his interference has caused. He said your letter did you credit, mine was too much for him, after reading it he burnt it, but he cannot do away with the impression it made upon him - he is indeed deeply affected and intends to make some reparation, I think he will do so. Charlotte had better not write to Mr. Mather if a letter comes from her we shall suppress it until we hear from you again. Mr. Pollock is a truly just and honest man, we have acquainted him with every circumstance and he feels very sincerely for us - & Mr. Mather has the highest respect for his judgment. Mr. Mather has sent to request Mr. Pollock will go to Lee-Hale on Saturday & as soon as I know the results of that interview I will inform you. We are disappointed at not hearing from London today, we hope some of you will write very soon -. Mr. Needham wishes to know when you expect to be in possession of the 5000# he hopes there will be no difficulty about it. - Mr. Pollock knows that it was your intention to take into consideration Mrs. Roberts , Mr. Saunders & Miss Price & will in course name it to Mr. Mather - We unite in best love to all. We understand the Mr. Mather wrote to you by last night’s post we should like to know the purport of his letter - he is going to Manchester to-morrow to consult with the Darbis----- previous to his seeing Mr. Pollock on Saturday. Believe me my dear George. Your ever affectionate Sister - Sarah Needham
