Margaret, Just to clarify Ross's message: each province sets its own standards about how old the record must be before they will release the information. In Manitoba, for example, the province's database is searchable for deaths of more than 70 years ago, marriages of more than 80 years ago and births of more than 100 years ago [http://web2.gov.mb.ca/cca/vital/]. In British Columbia, death records of more than 20 years ago are searchable online. http://canadaonline.about.com/od/vitalstatistics/ offers a good overview of what's available where. Of course this still doesn't much help you, Margaret... If Richard and Elizabeth ended up in Manitoba, they would have to have died by the ages of 17 and 13, respectively, to be findable in the online records. As Ross suggests, phone and city directories would be your best bet but you'll have to narrow it down a bit, geographically. If they ended up in a rural area, you may have a hard time tracking them down. Any idea when they arrived in Canada?
