Joan, My wife has Hotchkiss links on the Stiperstones in Wentnor parish. Her great grandmother was Maria Hotchkiss who was the daughter of Edward( a lead miner) and Mary Hotchkiss. She was part of the large family living at "The Bog" in the 1840s. Edward was, I believe, the son of Thomas and Mary Hotchkiss who were having Hotchkiss children baptised at Wentnor and Shelve during a time period from 1785 to 1811. Their family contained a William and a Richard but their dates of birth do not concur with the dates you have given for your William and Richard. From the Wentnor register. 19th February 1799 Edward Hotchkiss and John Botley buried. These two persons lost their lives from fatigue and the inclemency of the weather on the Stiperstones.
