    3. Hi all, I'm new to this list and hoping to find out something about Catherine WILLIAMS of Park Issa, Oswestry. Catherine was born about 1761 in Pennant near Llanfyllin, Montgomeryshire, and died unmarried in 1844 at Park Issa. The informant of her death was a Sarah DAVIES of Park Issa. Catherine is buried at Llandrillo - her headstone reads: To the Memory of Catherine Williams, Late of Oswestry and sister of Mary Jones, the above/joining stone who died the 26 day of October 1844 Aged 83 years Also in memory of Robert Rowlands their brother who departed this life the 18th day of March 1847 Aged 84 years. Catherine has not yet been found in the 1841 census with any certainty (although there are a couple of contenders around Welshpool) and I haven't been able to find Park Issa in Oswestry in that census either - does anyone know what piece/folio number it might be on? Google searches for Park Issa only bring up veterinary services. Catherine left substantial bequests to Edward DAVIES and Charles WILDING in her Will - they are both at the Dairy, Powis Castle, with their families in 1841 and 1851. No family connection as yet but I suspect there may be. Both Edward and Charles were born in Shropshire and they feature in Catherine's Will ahead of her nieces and nephew. No connection has been found yet between Edward DAVIES and Sarah DAVIES, informant of Catherine's death. If anyone can suggest trails to follow for Catherine, Charles, Edward or Park Issa I'd be very grateful - this is becoming a tangled web! Loretta Melbourne, Australia

They have a contact page so it might be worth asking them if they know anything about the house's history? ( http://www.parkissa.com/ ) In the 1841 census Salop Road can be found at HO107/915-5/25/1 but I can't see any mention of Park Issa. Otherwise, there is a Park Issa just north of Whittington, close to the railway http://www.multimap.com/map/browse.cgi?lat=52.8736&lon=-3.0035&scale=25000&icon=x and you can see a photo of the house on the Geograph site ( http://www.geograph.org.uk/photo/194105 ) In the 1841 census Whittington can be found at HO107/916 but I can't see any mention of Park Issa here either. If Catherine Williams was unmarried, why is her brother named Robert Rowlands? Step-brother? Ian
