Dear All. Wonder if anyone has information on the RICHARDSON & PHILLIPS families from the Lydenbury North area. William PHILLIPS (born Mainstone 1815) was a farmer & his daughter Mary Ann (born 1855/6) was my Great Great Grandmother married to Arthur J RICHARDSON (born Wellington 1857/8) son of John RICHARDSON (born Pulford, Cheshire 1816) A Police Inspector. I would apprieciate any help. Also with information on the police force back then. John is described as a Police Inspector in 1851. Thank you kindly Jane Slowgrove (nee Worlock) --------------------------------- Get your email and more, right on the new Yahoo.com
Hello Jane Can't help with the family 'fraid, but re. old Police files, often these are held at the local record office, or council office. I had a similiar research problem for a guy born Shropshire who moved to London, Hampshire, eventually Berkshire, eventually joining the constabulary. I emailed the Thames Valley Police who put me onto the curator of the Police Museum, who then directed me to the Berkshire record office, and they had available the examination papers of my man which for a small sum, I could have. If you contact the Police liaison folk in the district in which you consider your fellow was from, you may have some luck. Possibly a little online "running" around as I had to do, but in the end, success. Good luck Graham Melbourne Oz
