Hello Jonathan Depending upon how and where you received your information, the following may be of interest to you: From the IGI records: Christening: Newport News 31 Dec 1846 Alfred Bunn, parents Mortimer Bunn & Charlotte. The census details may have misread your Alfred's date of birth, and in fact as folk grow older some forget anyway. Lord knows what was presented to the census taker! Not saying that this is your Alfred, but seems rather suspicious. You need to follow this up by checking further IGI births marriages, etc., and if possible obtaining the original microfilm records through the LDS folk at one of their family history libraries or a local record office.
