What other spellings did you search in the Death Index? Did you try SAND as well as SANDS?. Did you check SENDS and SENTS? Often S gets confused with L and B - so did you check LANDS and BANDS? 2. Since he was a 'carter on his own account' he should appear in the various Trade Directories. Have you tried tracking him in Trade Directories - the year he disappears will give you the year he died? 3. Have you tried the burial registers of the nearest Parish Church and the nearest cemetery to where he lived in 1901? They are probably deposited with the County Record Office. Good Luck! Cyril

I wondered about 'SANDYS" purely because of the politician Duncan Sandys (Pron Sands). The point about the directories is a good one but don't forget that people sometimes lived longer in Kellys than they did on earth!
