Hi Maureen There could be a connection to an earlier Benjamin, viz: Christening at Stokesay. Benjamin Beddoes 20 JAN 1839 Stokesay, Shropshire, England Father George Beddoes Mother Sarah. You would probably need to widen your area of research a little. Parloc (Parish Locator) shows close parishes to Myndtown which is next door to Marshbrook, with possibilities: Acton Scott P SAL ENG SO4589 3.7 East Bishops Castle P SAL ENG SO3288 4.4 West Church Stretton P SAL ENG SO4593 4.5 East by North East Clunbury P SAL ENG SO3780 5.7 South by South West Edgton P SAL ENG SO3885 2.6 South by South West Halford P SAL ENG SO4383 4.5 South by South East Hope Bowdler P SAL ENG SO4792 5.3 East by North East Hopesay P SAL ENG SO3983 3.7 South Hyssington P MGY WLS SO3194 5.9 West by North West Lydbury North P SAL ENG SO3586 3.1 South West Lydham P SAL ENG SO3390 3.8 West More P SAL ENG SO3491 3.3 West by North West Myndtown P SAL ENG SO3989 0.0 Norbury P SAL ENG SO3692 2.6 North West Ratlinghope P SAL ENG SO4096 4.4 North Sibdon Carwood P SAL ENG SO4183 3.9 South by South East Snead P MGY WLS SO3192 5.3 West by North West Stokesay P SAL ENG SO4381 5.6 South by South East Wentnor P SAL ENG SO3892 2.0 North by North West Wistanstow P SAL ENG SO4385 3.5 South East It's a lot of parishes, I know, but sometimes one has to go through them one by one to find the result. Perhaps the marriage certificate will give you more clues. Good luck Graham Melbourne
Hello Maureen, who wrote she was "looking for information about Benjamin BEDDOES who appears in Pride Hill Shrewsbury in the 1901 census aged 30 and is listed as being born in Marshbrook. Very delayed reply, I ignored the original posting as Beddoes is a name so awash in part of country mentioned. However reading a lister's reply, thought I would go into the list Archives to dig it up, then into the 1901 on line to find out his occupation. Thought this may give me a lead to look and see if he appeared in a trade directory for bit later. After trying various spellings (on the official census page , free index page), no find would come up for him. I know there is nothing unique about this, but would be interested to hear what input you entered to get the result on the 1901 query page. Cheers, Jo. Sunny Shropshire.

PS: This is from the British Vital Records disks, so would not surprise me if there was an even earlier connection to your Beddoes family at Mindtown/Myndtown.
