This is grasping at straws but I tried looking for other siblings. The 1861 Wales census gives: Edward Philpot, Head, abt 1810, Wellington, Shropshire, England (living at Llanwenarth Ultra, Monmouthshire) John Philpot, Head, abt 1813, Wellington, Shropshire, England (living at Llanwenarth Ultra, Monmouthshire) Benj Philpot, Head, abt 1819, New Dale [near Wellington], Shropshire, England (living at Aberystruth, Monmouthshire) and one of the Brockton's is just south-east of Wellington. So are these three your James' brothers who also moved to Monmouthshire? Llanwenarth is close to where James was living in Aberystruth, Monmouthshire. Ian
