Hi Sandi, who said; > I have a brick wall I want to break down. > In the 1851 census I have the following HO/07/989 page 14 Madeley Wood > Sarah POTTS and Andrew POTTS plus Elizabeth DELVES Aunt, widow, 81, pauper. > Andrew would have been born 1811 and Sarah 1818. > Are you working from an inaccurate transcript? My interpretation of that census page is completely different. I believe it says; Sarah POTTS, Head, Unmar, 46, Unable to write. Andrew POTTS, Uncle, (status?), 85, Waggoner receiving relief. Elizabeth DELVES? Aunt, Widow, 81, Pauper. All born in Broseley. So, guessing that Elizabeth's maiden name was POTTS, on the IGI can be found the Christening of Elis. POTT on 8 Sept 1771. Also Andrew POTT on 7 Feb 1769. Both children of John & Elis. POTT, at St. Leonard's Broseley. Sarah POTTS, their niece (the other person on the above 1851 census) was Christened 21 April 1805 at St. Leonard's Broseley. Daughter of George & Mary POTT who also Christened at least four other children there. So George POTT is the brother to Andrew and Elizabeth plus many other children born to John & Elis. POTT as you will see on the IGI. Finally, on the 1841 Madeley Wood census there is; George POTT, age 65. Sarah POTT, age 35. George POTT, age 20. Tile maker. All born in County. Hope it helps, Gwynne Chadwick Transcribing the Bridgnorth town census. http://www.chadwickg.freeserve.co.uk
