Would anyone know which Upton is referred to as Upton Bank?It is given as place of birth for my ancestor Richard Meredith in 1861census.Thank you Jan Poulton
Hello Janet I don't think we have anywhere called Upton Bank. I wonder if it should be Hopton Bank? We have two of these, one at Clun and the other at Hopton Wafers. Can you find him in another census to help clarify where he was born? There is of course, Upton in Chester, Cheshire, and there is an Upton Cressett near Bridgnorth (Shropshire), about four miles to the west. Perhaps there is an Upton Bank on the outskirts of that village. If I was looking for parish registers of this village I would be searching within Oldbury, Chetton, Ditton Priors, Monkhopton, Morville, Oldbury which are extremely close churches to Upton Cressett or Bridgnorth itself (the main centre). Good luck Graham
