Hi Janice, It all depends on where he was 10 or 20 years on from 1841 census doesn't it. You say you have him on later census, where was he living then, does it give you a clue as to where he may be in earlier years? When my mothers parents both died leaving 7 children (in Bolton, Lancs), they were all split up between Aunts & Uncles in Manchester. But after the funeral they decided to go back home and stay together, and the eldest two girls (about 19 & 20) brought the rest up, youngest only 3 at the time. One was working and the other stayed at home and played Mum, taking in washing and minding others children to make ends meet. Then they both married and brought their own families up. So what I am saying, it all depends on your family as to what happened to them all when their parents died, and if they may have been split up between relatives just the same. In which case they could have been miles away, anywhere in the country. Do you know of their relatives at that time and where they may have been living, it might be worth trying to find them, and see if they have your orphans, if you have no luck with the Wem 1851 census pages.
