I'm not sure where to find the Historical Directories. I do have copies of George's military records retrieved by a very helpful Ancestry.co.uk member in London. I know he enlisted in Manchester in 1829. I believe him to be educated as he signed (in very nice penmanship) the enlistment papers. As far as trades go, most of the Griffiths' I've come across were general labourers. Let me know how I can contact you.
