Hello, Just a reminder that I have not been able to find out where my ancestors married. Richard LEWIS was from Shropshire and Elizabeth TROUGHTON was from Cheshire, but they seem to have had all 6 children in Lancashire (Liverpool). Did they meet and marry there? Or, did they meet in Cheshire and marry there? Betty (near Lowell, MA, USA) FYI: This is part of my posting from last summer: This is part of one of my postings on the LEWIS List from a few months ago: What someone told me is that they had found my LEWIS ancestors in the 1841 census for Liverpool, England -- under the name, LOWIS. The censis record showed that Richard and Elizabeth LEWIS had 2 daughters that I didn't know about. I only knew about the 4 sons mentioned in the 1851 census. For the moment, I will just summarize what I know about this family: Richard LEWIS was born in Shrewsbury, Shropshire, England, in ~1803, and he was a tailor (unknown parents; there are possibilities) Elizabeth TROUGHTON was born in Heswall, Cheshire, England, in ~1806 They might have married in 1825 or 1826 in Liverpool, Lancashire, England. They had a daughter, Ann LEWIS ~1827 in Liverpool They had a daughter, Sarah LEWIS ~1828 in Liverpool They had a son, William LEWIS in 1832 in Liverpool They had a son, John LEWIS in 1836 in Liverpool They had a son, Charles LEWIS in 1841 in Liverpool (prob. died young) They had a son, Henry LEWIS in 1843 in Liverpool They had a son, Richard LEWIS in 1848 in Liverpool Since the daughters are not mentioned in the 1851 census, they had probably married by then. (I don't know why my copy/pasting shows up in larger text.) (My ancestor is John LEWIS who married Isabella BURROWS in Liverpool. They seem to have had only one child, a son, John "Stanley" LEWIS, who grew up to become my great-grandfather.) (Stanley became a "Child Migrant" and was shipped to Nova Scotia. He married another Child Migrant there, and then came down to Massachusetts to raise their 13 children.)
