I am researching this family. Ellen HEATH was the `wife` of John CHANT but the marriage record has not been found after much searching. Their first child George CHANT was born 1879 in Hull, Yks. Because I couldn`t find the marriage record I looked for Ellen`s birth so that a certificate could be bought. Ellen died 1916 in Doncaster, Yks. aged 66years on Death Cert. so birth about 1850. Census returns give her age as - 1901 aged 42yrs. born Shrewsbury (Living Doncaster) so born about 1859. 1891 aged 36yrs. born Hull, Yks.(Living Knottingly Yks.) so birth about 1855. 1881 aged 29yrs. born Shrewsbury, Shropshire(Living Hull) so birth about 1852. There is an Ellen HEATH born 1847 Sept Quarter on National Index and also an Ellen HEATH on 1851 census daughter of Joseph and Charlotte HEATH but I am reluctant to accept this because of the varying dates on census. In 1882 Ellen named a daughter Charlotte. I welcome any ideas. Thank you, Maureen.
