Hi Listers, Wonder if anyone out there can help me with a little information to point me in the right direction. i have recently found that my great great great Aunt was sentenced to life at Shrewsbury Assizes in 1861(probably March) for the crime of Murder (drowning a 9 month old child). The sentence was commuted to 20 years PS and she was released from Knaphill Prison in 1873 where she was incarcerated with Constance Kent as an historical aside. I want to find out if the child was hers and more details of the crime and am not sure where to look. I have some details of the plea for clemency and petitions for her release from the National Archives but that gives little away about the actual crime and circumstances. Would there be records of the trial? Which would be best newspaper to see if there are any reports? And on the off chance she's in anyone else's list her name is Elizabeth Griffin b. c1823 Hints Staffordshire. Fingers cross, all help and advice greatly rec'd!! Many thanks Nick
