    1. Re: [ENG-SHROP] (no subject) Brockholes & Madeley Wood

    3. Hello Linda The Brockholes and Madeley Wood were east of Ironbridge but neither is marked on the modern Ordnance Survey map. Following the River Severn east of Ironbridge to the next bridge over the river (the Free Bridge leading to Broseley) the wooded area to the north and east of this bridge is Madeley Wood. Starting again from Ironbridge, follow the B4373 road north east towards Madeley you should see a school on the east of that road. The Brockholes was the area west of that road directly opposite the modern school. If you have a look at the Old Maps web site at http://www.old-maps.co.uk and put Ironbridge in the Search box, then by zooming in a little you should be able to see both places named on the 1890 map. By the way, try to remember to put a meaningful entry in the subject line otherwise many people might miss your message.
