Are there any research experts for the area around Clun on the list? I am trying to find christenings for John Davies born 1790/91 and Thomas Davies born 1792/3. I am trying to establish that they were brothers and, if so, get some lead as to who their parents were. Thomas was my 3x-gr grandfather and married Susannah Howard at Clun in 1817 and their first child William was christened at Bettws y Crwyn later that same year. They relocated to Bilston Staffordshire shortly thereafter where Thomas was a Forge Laborer. I believe John may have married Mary Cadwallader at Clun in 1818. Based on census records, their oldest child that I am aware of was born in Clun in 1821/22 but I have not been able to locate a christening record for him. By the time their son John was born in 1826 the family had also relocated to Bilston Staffordshire where John was a Forge Laborer. >From this little bit of information I have on their early life, I do not know precisely where they were born only that it was in the general vicinity of Clun. The only records that I have been able to check were what are available for the area on the LDS website which includes Clun, Bettws, Llanfair-Warterdine and Mainstone. What I would like to know is what other churches were in that area in the late 1700’s. I think there was a church at Newcastle on Clun at that time but the LDS does not have any records.
