Hello Norman The publication "A Gazetteer of Streets, Roads and Place Names in Shropshire" by H.D.G. Foxall published by Salop County Council 1967 now long out of print but available on microfiche from Shropshire FHS states:- "Maes-termyn, 3/4 mile SW of Welsh Frankton" and adds the note "Given as Maes-terfyn on 1st Edition Six Inch OS". If you go to the British History Online web site at http://www.british-history.ac.uk/map.aspx?compid=55135 then select map number 013/SW (slightly NE of Oswestry) you will find Maes-terfyn in the extreme top left corner. Just click on the map at that point to get an enlarged view. Whilst the property is shown on modern maps it does not appear to be named on the 1:50,000 or 1:25,000 OS maps but the Grid Reference is SJ 355 324. The following link should show the property on Goggle Maps. <http://maps.google.co.uk/?ie=UTF8&t=h&ll=52.885564,-2.958788&spn=0.003742,0.009366&z=17> Mike Shropshire, UK ______________________________________________________ Norman Rowcroft wrote: > On the 1851 census for Frankton there is an address of Maesterfyn.
