Good morning I wondered whether someone might be able to help find my 3Gt Gparents on the 1861 census? I've been searching for several years and still cannot find them. James DARRALL (b.1826, Dawley) married Harriet HOPWOOD (b.1828, Dawley) in 1849, Dawley. In 1841, they are both living in Dawley Green with their respective parents. By 1851, they are married and living with Harriet's parents in Dawley Green Lane and their 10 month old son, John Henry DARRALL 20 years on, in 1871, they are still in Dawley Green but now have their own house and 6 children - John Henry (aged 20), Matilda, Julia Ann, Harriet Eleanor, Hannah Louisa and Miriam (aged 2) Any help in finding them in 1861 would be most appreciated :-) Heather
Hello Heather I have tried this all the ways I can think of, even swapping the forename and surname, but still nothing. There are times when I think we just have to accept that some of our ancestors managed to avoid the census enumerator, either intentionally or otherwise, and this appears to be one of those cases. You are not alone, I have some that I can't find as well.
