    3. Hello Barbara You will be aware from the link you provided to the Wem Registration District that there are more than a dozen parishes in the District plus several Non-Conformist Churches. Even if you searched all these you still may not find the marriages if they took place in the Register Office rather than a church. Your only certain way of getting this information is to purchase copies of the marriage certificates which you can do online using the references you found on FreeBMD. However, having just looked at the references, it would appear that this might well have been a double marriage, that is, both couples at the same place on the same day as they both have the same reference number. You can probably save the cost of one of the certificates if you buy one to obtain the exact date and place and then post another message asking if anyone can look up the other. You need to purchase the certificate from the General Register Office in Southport, UK, not from a local register office. To do this go back into FreeBMD and look up the marriage you wish to purchase, then just below the entry(ies) you will find Has our search engine found the record you are seeking? Click here to learn what to do now. Click the word 'here' then scroll down the next page to the paragraph headed 'Obtaining a certificate from the GRO' and again click the word 'here'. This will take you to the GRO web site where you can place your order using a credit or debit card. You probably have to register with the site but that is simple enough. One final point, when you have a certificate and the exact date and place it might be worth thinking about the possibility of looking for a newspaper report especially if it was a double wedding. Her birth year ranges from 1837 to 1855 and several birth places are shown in her own records, so I have not been able to find her with her parents in the 1841 Census. By 1851 she was in service with relatives. > > Here is the Wem Registration District: > http://ukbmd.org.uk/genuki/Reg/districts/wem.html > > My hunch is that the marriage occurred in Prees, where the Ebrey family had deep roots, or possibly Ightfield where there were relatives. > > Thank you in advance for any assistance. > > Barbara Bradley Petura, > Washington, USA > > > > > > REMEMBER - The question you are asking may have already been answered. > Threaded Archives at - > http://archiver.rootsweb.ancestry.com/th/index/ENG-SHROPSHIRE-PLUS/Archives > > Searchable Archives at - > http://archiver.rootsweb.ancestry.com/th/index/ENG-SHROPSHIRE-PLUS/ > ------------------------------- > To unsubscribe from the list, please send an email to ENG-SHROPSHIRE-PLUS-request@rootsweb.com with the word 'unsubscribe' without the quotes in the subject and the body of the message > > >
