Hi List I have recently looked at Hopesay parish records at the LDS Centre. On the film it begins with page x which is signed off as a introduction note by WGD Fletcher in Jan 1920 [he was then the vicar of Oxon]. Then the next page is the start of the parish records bmb. On the internet I found an index to the Hopesay parish records and noted down the pages that the surname [Awnsham] appeared on, so I could check the pages on the film. The index listed that the surname was mention on page v and viii of the introduction. These are missing from the film. Can anyone help me please with the information on these pages? The index states RD [Richard Awnsham on page v] and Ann and Rd on page viii. Richard Awnsham was the rector of the parish and Ann was his wife. Richard was in Hopesay during the civil war when he lost the parish and then was restored when Charles was back in charge. Karen
Hello Karen Page v includes:- A silver flagon (Georgian) with this inscription: "For the use of the Parish of Hopesay, the gift of Mr Richard ANNSHAM, 1725." Under a list of Incumbents of Hopesay beginning 1278 on page vi there appears on page viii:- 1623 Dec 9 - Richard AWNSHAM ... plus a paragraph of text, ending with Mrs Ann AWNSHAM, widow, was buried 11 May 1679. I will photograph the two pages from the microfiche viewer and email them direct to you.
