Hi again Alison, I think it was me in 2005 who provided you with the burial record of Richard BRYAN, age stated as 72, so I felt obliged to try a resolve this query. I've checked the burial book entry - it says age 72. I've checked the church register - it says age 72. I've tried to check the age on any inscription on a headstone in the cemetery. There wasn't one, unless it was hidden under several inches of snow! Probably not relevant but I note that the Registrar who accepted the amendment to the age, died the following year, aged 43. Regards, Gwynne www.rafbridgnorth.org.uk
Dear Gwynne I remember you helping me on this back in 2004/5, I hadn't forgotten. I was still new to genealogy at the time, and the kindness was difficult to forget. Thanks for checking this and you really shoudn't have braved the elements last week, and looked but thank you so much for the trouble you went to. I would like to get to Bridgnorth at some point this year, I've made two unplanned fleeting visits in the past couple of years (en route elsewhere), but I didn't know the place well enough to know the location of the graveyards. It's a shame that there is no (obvious) headstone. I have ordered Sarah Ann BRYAN's death certificate (Richard's wife), which should arrive later this week. I don't know if it will deliver any other surprises, I will let you all know. Best wishes, Alison 2010/1/9 Gwynne Chadwick <gwynnechadwick@rafbridgnorth.org.uk>: > Hi again Alison, > > I think it was me in 2005 who provided you with the burial record of Richard > BRYAN, age stated as 72, so I felt obliged to try a resolve this query. > > I've checked the burial book entry - it says age 72. > I've checked the church register - it says age 72. > I've tried to check the age on any inscription on a headstone in the > cemetery.
