    3. Dear Barry, A start would be for your friend to check in the local library archive section: new tithe maps were drawn up in the early/mid 1830's. The maps themselves show numbered land boundaries and properties. There are bound volumes to go with the maps, which show who owned the land, who it was let to and who it was sub-let to. (With of course, estimated value in rent and any tithes due to the church.) Of course the land in question may have changed hands more than once between the Eytons and Sutherlands, however it could be that it was purchased by the Sutherlands close to the date of the tithe maps.
