Hi Robert The Phillimore parish registers for Albrighton and Shifnal are online and can be downloaded from Archive.org (Put shropshire into the search and then I think that they are under Diocese of lichfield volumes). Albrighton is in Vol 3 and is from, I think, 1555-1812, cant remember which one contains Shifnal, butr I know its there). And for others who may not know this site it has dozens of Shropshire Registers. Also contains many out of print rare books from 18th 19th century which can be a goldmine for info on relatives. Hope that helps Lesley FreeREG coordinator, Staffordshire ----- Original Message ---- From: "eng-shropshire-plus-request@rootsweb.com" <eng-shropshire-plus-request@rootsweb.com> To: eng-shropshire-plus@rootsweb.com Sent: Saturday, 31 July, 2010 8:00:08 Subject: ENG-SHROPSHIRE-PLUS Digest, Vol 5, Issue 79 Please remember when replying to any email in this digest to change the subject line away from "Digest Number.." to something meaningful. Wightwicks of Albrighton (Robert Hodges) ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Message: 1 Date: Fri, 30 Jul 2010 05:35:24 -0700 (PDT) From: Robert Hodges <roberthodges99@yahoo.com> Subject: [ENG-SHROP] Wightwicks of Albrighton To: Shropshire Rootsweb <ENG-SHROPSHIRE-PLUS@rootsweb.com> Message-ID: <428941.82834.qm@web35401.mail.mud.yahoo.com> Content-Type: text/plain; charset=utf-8 I'm trying to explore the 18th and 19th century family relationships and property of the Wightwick family based in Albrighton (Shifnal) having plucked dozens of names out of the pre-census Parish records. Apart from Burke's peerage, and the Rev. Blakeway book on Albrighton village, does anyone know of any good info on the family or its pedigree? Unhelpfully the surname was spelled a dozen different ways (Whyghtwick, Whiteweeke, Whitwick etc.) They are probably related to the Wightwicks of Wightwick Manor fame in nearby Tettenhall/Wolverhampton. Documents and wills appear to be thin on the ground in Shropshire and Staffs record offices and TNA. I'm particularly interested in late 18th century Thomas Wightwick and wife Anne Roden (heiress of Ruckley Grange) and his parents William and Anne, and any present day descendents. Any help at all gratefully received. Thanks, Robert ------------------------------ To contact the ENG-SHROPSHIRE-PLUS list administrator, send an email to ENG-SHROPSHIRE-PLUS-admin@rootsweb.com.
