Hi I've just found my 3 x Great Grandparents in the 1851 Census for Sedgley, STS. His name was Thomas BACHE and along with his wife Ann and his 4 sons (Samuel, Thomas, Charles & James) were all listed as having been born in Shropshire. Thomas and 2 of his sons were born in Astley (Abbots) and the other 2 sons in Bildwas (sic) My query is that Ann was listed as being born in "Salop, Crowmon" (or possibly Crowman) but I can't find where Crowmon is - any ideas? Hello Ian There is a Crowmoor / Crowmere (different spellings at different times) 1.5 miles (2.4 km) east of Shrewsbury plus lots of other places beginning Crow.... all over the county. You say some of them were born at Astley Abbots but do be aware that there are several places in Shropshire called Astley or beginning with Astley, including the village of Astley 4.5 miles (7.2 km) NNE of Shrewsbury so do make sure you have picked the correct one.
