    3. Hi Mike The US census is every ten years You are of course right that it should be Amesbury, but phonetic renderings are all part of the joy of reading census datra Try the links from here http://www.accessgenealogy.com/massachusetts/ - this includes Massachusetts free lookups There were Federal censuses i 1860 and 1870 and Massachusetts state cenuses in 1855 and 1865 If you have some spare time so that you can exploit it I would suggest an Ancestry free trial subscription but make sure you get all your ducks in a line before you start so you can take full advantage of it. They don't let you do it twice :-) Good hunting kathryn On 13 Jun 2010, at 15:38, Michael J Hulme wrote: > Hello Everyone > > According to the UK Census of 1881, 1891, 1901 and 1911 George John > MAGINESS was born 1851/2 Almsbury, Boston, Massachusetts, USA. 3. Hello Kathryn Thank you very much for this information - I have had a look at the web site and found some interesting bits. I already have Ancestry UK so I probably can't use the free trial option. If I find more information about this family I guess they probably originated from your home country. Thanks again for your help.
