Hi Susie, I've found John Watkins senior (a widower) on the 1901 census but his son John does not appear in the household.  His son Arthur however does and is shown as a Journeyman Cricker as you rightly told us.  It is possible that it should be clicker as others have already advised. Have you searched for him on the 1911 census?
