Hello. I'm new to this list. I have also just joined the SHROPSHIRE list, as I'm not sure what the two different lists focus on. So I apologise for any repetition if they cover the same things. Can some kind soul, with access to the 1851 census and some knowledge of Shrophire towns and villages, possibly help me decipher the name of a place of birth? On one of the census pages for Aberderfyn in Ruabon Parish near Wrexham (HO107; Piece: 2503; Folio: 340; Page: 4), there is a list for: "Sarah WYNNE, Head, Widow, 67, Pauper, Labourer's wife", with Where Born showing "Salop" and something like "Beasley", "Beauley", "Branley", or possibly "Bramley". It's been transcribed by Ancestry.co.uk as "Beanley", and by FindMyPast.com as "Brasiley", but I can't find either of them. I would be very grateful for possible suggestions for this lady's place of birth. I'd be even more grateful (and stunned) if anyone had more details about her. Thanks, John Wynne Cheshire
John, Is it possibly Broseley? If you Google Hugh Wallis and go to Shropshire, you can see all parishes starting with "B". You could also try Genuki to see if it has parishes in Shropshire. It might also help if you had Sarah's maiden name or her marriage details. Usually the marriage occurred in the bride's parish. Peter
