    3. Devastating and enough to bring tears to your eyes when watching. With all due respect for what has occurred, it is a warning to all genealogists to ensure that your years of long researching are not lost if a catastrophe hits your home. Make sure everything is backed up on disc and distributed to trusted relatives well away from where you live. Make sure that you have copied old photos (which obviously you may be the only one holding) and have again copied these to disk and left with other relatives. There will be many people in Queensland at the moment who have lost their life's possessions, almost in the blink of an eye. It is so sad, but again it is a warning to those of us who have so far been slack in copying and giving to close relatives, so please, do it now before it is too late. Would you want to lose all of it? Best regards Graham Melbourne Oz

    3. There is a rootsweb list specifically for discussing the best ways to record and preserve various forms of genealogical research ... http://lists.rootsweb.ancestry.com/index/other/Genealogical_Computing/RECORD-KEEPING-METHODOLOGY.html Have subbed to it for a few years now - not terribly busy but very friendly and forthcoming with some greats ideas :-) Heather On 13/01/2011 07:20, Graham Price wrote: > Devastating and enough to bring tears to your eyes when watching. > With all due respect for what has occurred, it is a warning to all > genealogists to ensure that your years of long researching are not > lost if a catastrophe hits your home. > <snip> > Graham > Melbourne > Oz >
