Hello Velda Regrettably I don't have any of that information. I think the only people who can help here are some of his relatives or just possibly someone who lived near him. Hi Mike Do you have any information about his family and did he have a second name? What was his job when he grew up - he may have followed in his father's footsteps. Does anyone have any knowledge of Bryn JONES born about 1910. He was living and/or working in the Church Stretton, Shropshire area in 1930. If he is on the 1911 census I have been unable to identify him as he does not appear to have been living in Shropshire at that time. I don't have any more information about him. Mike
Hello Barry There is a vast archive of Lilleshall Estate material at Shropshire Archives (which was owned by the Duke of Sutherland) much of which has been listed so should be reasonably easy to search. Parts of the Lilleshall Estate were sold in 1914 and further parts were sold in 1917 but I can't immediately see any reference to Leegomery Road, Wellington in either catalogues for these two sales so it is back to the archives I think. Dear Barry, A start would be for your friend to check in the local library archive section: new tithe maps were drawn up in the early/mid 1830's. The maps themselves show numbered land boundaries and properties. There are bound volumes to go with the maps, which show who owned the land, who it was let to and who it was sub-let to. (With of course, estimated value in rent and any tithes due to the church.) Of course the land in question may have changed hands more than once between the Eytons and Sutherlands, however it could be that it was purchased by the Sutherlands close to the date of the tithe maps. Anyway, good luck! Hi My friend owns a house in leegomery road in Wellington Shrops; I found some details of the road in the 1700,s when the land was owned by the Eyton family. His deeds show it to be owned by the Duke of Sutherland in 1844, does anyone know when the land changed hands? Regards Barry Researching Deakin, Williams, ikin, Smith etc
Alejandro, If you just use Whixall or Bettisfield, you can find the area on Google Maps. If you look closely, you will see it's right on the border of England and Wales, so restricting searches to England or Shropshire might be a problem. Peter in Sydney

Hi Norma The below website has some Whittington information on people http://www.genuki.org.uk/big/eng/DBY/Whittington/Burials.html Karen
Hello Alejandro In 1891 Whixall should be part of RG.12 Piece No: 2124 Reg. Dist: 354 Wem Sub Dist: 2 Prees. Have a look at the England Jurisdictions 1851 on Family Search at http://maps.familysearch.org and just search for Whixall. This will give you some useful information and if you select the Layers tab on the left you can choose a Google base map which is helpful and will show you that Whixall Moss is very close to Wales and it is quite possible your lady may have been born on the Welsh side of the border unless she has stated otherwise elsewhere. Unfortunately there doesn't seem to be a Jurisdictions site for Wales and I don't have Piece Numbers for Flintshire. Having said this, if I am looking at the correct couple, Sarah Elizabeth JONES (the daughter of Thomas JONES and Mary SUTTON) and Joseph THORNES were married married at Preston Gubbals on 24 Jan 1902. She died 1 Dec 1962 at Astley and they are both buried at Preston Gubbals. There was a Probate for both of them. If this is your couple email me direct. Hello Gordon I presume the 1856 marriage you have found was in the Atcham Registration District (as distinct to the Atcham Parish) in which case you should be aware that Minsterley, together with quite a lot of Shropshire west of Shrewsbury, was in the Atcham Reg. Dist. but of course it is difficult to establish the actual place of marriage without buying a copy of the certificate. If you get chance to visit Shropshire Archives then it would of course be worth checking the Minsterley marriage register but you may have to also check the surrounding parishes and if the marriage took place in the Register Office itself then there is no way to get the details without buying a copy of the certificate. I am trying to help a local friend who lives in Manchester with her HOPKINS ancestors. I have found a Joseph HOPKINS (1867) of Minsterley, married to Amelia Ann KELLY in Manchester in 1891, I have all details after that. Being a Yorkshire man, I am not very conversant with Shropshire, but have found the following...... The above Joseph HOPKINS (1867) appears to be the 4th child of a William HOPKINS and Elizabeth CROWTHER of Minsterley, (1837) who married at Atcham in 1856, if I am correct. All four children are born Minsterley. Can anyone help me with this HOPKINS family from Minsterly and confirming my findings and with any other earlier HOPKINS ? Thank you, Gordon.
