Hello Dawn Unfortunately the Ludford registers were NOT printed when many others were about a hundred years ago but as you have found the Baptisms are on the IGI from 1647 to 1855 and Marriages 1661 to 1839 which means you should be able to find any likely references and you should also be able to order a copy of the microfilm through your local Mormon Family History Centre (you don't need to be a church member to use the library) where you can search the register yourself if no-one offers to do it in the UK. As far as I can see there are no WATERS within the correct time scale but there is a Maria WALTERS in 1814 on the IGI so I just wonder if you need to be a bit flexible with the spelling of the surname. If you are looking at the correct family I would expect there to be earlier children from an 1810 marriage. Often the first child will arrive within months of the marriage with others following at between one and two year intervals. You can do a Parent search on the IGI by entering the father's forename and surname together with the mother's forename, the event and its date range and the location (England or Wales) to see if you can find any likely children. As your most precise information is probably that of the trial date and place I would suggest you try a message board for the Brecon area to see if anyone can give you any more information from the trial papers. Hi all Hope everyone is aware of the fairly new Family Search Beta site at: <https://beta.familysearch.org/>https://beta.familysearch.org/ Seems useful. PS. This is not the pilot site. Cheers Graham Melbourne Oz

Hello, I am currently tracing the family of Elizabeth AUSTIN bapt.3 Dec 1797, Loppington, and her husband Robert WILLIAMS who was bapt. 27 Sep 1795, Loppington. This couple married 11 Jan 1821, Loppington and had a large family. My particular interest is in the two children of this marriage who are known to have emigrated to Australia, John, b. 19 Oct 1823, Bagley, and Robert Jnr, b. abt 1839, West Felton. In about 1852, at Ellesmere, John married Maria Randles and they had one daughter - Mary Elizabeth - abt 1855. Maria died shortly after the birth of this child. My children are descended from John's second marriage (in Lancashire). I would love to hear from others interested in this family. Trevor (Melbourne)
For those of you who are interested in maps here is something a bit different. Visit Shoothill TimeMap at shoothill.com/whatwedo/bing.aspx (put http://www. infront) and select TimeMap from the selection at the lower part of the screen and you should see a modern aerial view of Shrewsbury (from Bing maps) with an over laid panel showing that part of the area as it was in 1882 or 1902. You can drag the panel or the background and they will follow each other and you can reverse them. You can see how a particular area changed over time. Mike Shropshire, UK

Hi Listers, Hope this message is appropriate but I feel it maybe useful to some on this list, please correct me if I am wrong. I have noticed looking for various census and parish registers on ebay for my Leicestershire family research that someone has listed the parish registers for Church Preen, Badger and Oldbury, also two books which may be of interest, The History of Church Preen and Shropshire Parish Registers for Ludlow, all listed at 99p, worth a look. Carolyn Have you tried a search on the Appleton forum? Might be some information there, hopefully :-\ . <http://genforum.genealogy.com/appleton/>http://genforum.genealogy.com/appleton/ Cheers Graham Mebourne Oz
Carolyn, If you knew it, then why not say it? It would save people wasting time looking for what you already know. Peter
Carolyn, His birth and christening are on the IGI at www.familysearch.org and show mother as Ellinor. Unfortunately, I can't find a marriage or any other children. Peter in Sydney
I'm sorry for that - I forgot that I had already checked the IGI..Carolyn At 11:48 PM 10/13/2010, you wrote: >Carolyn, > > If you knew it, then why not say it? Hi Penny, Thank you for your kind offer of assistance. However, I don't have very much to offer as a clue about Arthur JACOB. As I mentioned previously all I have is................ Ruth Lorraine PARSONAGE was my mother, she was born at 133 Beatrice Street, Oswestry, Shropshire. No fathers name was listed on her birth certificate. But a christening record was located in Oswestry in the Holy Trinity, Oswestry parish records. Ref P215 Fiche 17, page 25, entry 198. This was dated the 24th of August, 1917 a month after Ruth was born, but the same date as her birth certificate was made. It lists a baby as Ruth Lorraine. The birth certificate shows only her mother as Ruth PARSONAGE, no fathers name was recorded. But the baptismal record shows the parents were Ruth and Arthur Jacob. Arthur was listed as a soldier. Their residence was 4 Trinity Cottages, Roft street. Living at 3 Trinity terrace in Roft street was Ruth mother Ellen Parsonage/Smith and her brother John Henry PARSONAGE along with a Johns sister Clara Beatrice PARSONAGE. I don't have a copy of the christening record and assume the information that was sent to me was everything they could see in the record book . Its a pity they did not get his forces number. I know there was a large army transit camp local in Oswestry during the first world war. Using the address shown in the christening record I was hoping that Arthur JACOB 's name might be in other records such as a list of absent voters or a postal directory, and they might give his army number and regiment. > > Personally I don't think my grandmother was married to Arthur because his >name > > would have been on my mothers birth certificate. I was hoping that there would be another source to identify the mother further and other siblings. I got my info from the IGI as well as the parish register.. thank you! My ancestor, Bartholomew Appleton, was born in Shrewsbury, Shropshire on or about 04 March 1761; his Christening is recorded in the Shropshire Parish Register for Shrewsbury. His father was Homer aka Omer Appleton; I would like to find the name of his mother. Can you help me? Thank you, Carolyn
My Dear Mike, Once again I am not 'at home' in England to help you directly. You do sound desperate though. If I can find anything about Arthur Jacob's Service Record though, I will do my best. Repeat to me anything which may help :) Hugs and kindest regards, Penny ----- Original Message Follows ----- From: Mike Morris <morrisind@rogers.com> To: eng-shropshire-plus@rootsweb.com Subject: [ENG-SHROP] JACOB and PARSONAGE in Oswestry Date: Sat, 9 Oct 2010 15:26:16 -0700 (PDT) > Can a kind list member help me with a look up in Oswestry for a list of > absent voters or a post office address list of people who lived at Trinity > terrace, Oswestry in 1916 or 1917. Can a kind list member help me with a look up in Oswestry for a list of absent voters or a post office address list of people who lived at Trinity terrace, Oswestry in 1916 or 1917. I am hoping to find Ruth and Arthur Jacob. Arthur might be listed as an absent voter due to him being a soldier in the forces. Their residence might be No.4 Trinity Cottages, Roft street. This was their address in 1917 on their daughter Ruth Lorraine's baptismal record. I was noted that In the Shropshire Records Office is a register of voters. The volumes for Oswestry begin in 1918. John Henry Parsonage my grandmothers brother was registered in this record as living in Oswestry's East Ward. A list of absent voters in Oswestry records John Henry's residence as Trinity terrace, Oswestry in 1918 and spring of 1919. But not in the register for the autumn of that year nor thereafter. My thanks for any help some one might be able to give me. Mike Morris Toronto Canada
Hi Gerry, I must have missed the thread on this. A large number of my family come from Woore so when I saw your posting it woke me up. I gather there is a 1911 database around, can you post details please. Many ThanksĀ Mike Latham

Hello, its been a few years since I last posted a letter to this List. I have a difficult research problem. I am trying to locate an Arthur JACOB a grandfather I have never met and know nothing about except the following which was located by a very kind List member about ten years ago. Ruth Lorraine PARSONAGE was my mother, she was born at 133 Beatrice Street, Oswestry, Shropshire. No fathers name was listed on her birth certificate. A christening record was located in Oswestry in the Holy Trinity, Oswestry parish records. Please can anyone add to my knowledge of Arthur other than he must have had a fast bike........................... :)) I know there was a large army transit camp local in Oswestry during the first world war. Has anyone come up with a list of the army personnel that went through this camp? Any suggestions would be welcomed. All my best in your own search. Mike Morris Toronto Canada
