    3. Helen, Aren't Smith & Jones wonderful surnames to trace. You never run short of possibilities. You missed a critical bit of information. Where was Louisa's birth registered? Look at the 1881 census and then find it in FreeBMD. Like you, my guess would be that Ann died in childbirth or shortly after. So I think you should only have to look in two places (1) where Louisa was born or (2) the nearest registry to Baschurch. It might also be worth checking where Elizabeth Dobson died. Presumably she was still with the family when she died. Peter

    3. Hello Helen You don't say where you obtained these details but the Printed Parish Register for St Mary's, Shrewsbury shows the following:- 1791 July 23 Edward, son of Saml. SMITH and Anne, Baptised. Unfortunately the printed register only goes up to the end of 1812. 3. Hello Helen You certainly have a problem but I suppose one of the 'least difficult' approaches might be to search the Baschurch burial register for the period to establish whether the burial took place there. It is available on microfiche at Shropshire Archives and may be available through your local Mormon Family History Centre. If you can't search it locally you will need to find someone in Shropshire to do it for you. If you need to pay for the research then a private researcher will probably be cheaper. 3. Hello Anne I'm not sure whether Graham is intending to look at a film of the Printed Parish Register or a film of the original register but I would point out that the Printed Parish Register ends at 31st Dec 1812 so you must rely on the original register, or at least a film copy of it. I have access to St. Mary's at our State Library of Victoria and could be going there 18th April, so shall have a bo-peep for you. I wouldn't expect too much though as the regs at that early time didn't give all that much info, but I think you will find that there will be the names of witnesses, so that could be a bonus especially if one or two were family. Doubt if addresses will be given, such as district. Usually they kept it as within St. Mary's. 3. Aileen, A difficult one, I'm afraid. But when the answer is found, it will appear so simple. If you use the 1911 site, go to Advanced Search and you can use wildcards and so forth. I managed to get down to about 40 possibilities, but that was only in Warwickshire. We don't know if he moved out of the county. Where did he marry? If you go to FindMyPast, you may get better results on their surname variants. You can also try words like cycle in occupation. Sorry I couldn't find him. But I tried. Peter

    3. Hello Aileen As far as the 1901 census is concerned have a look at RG13/2884 Fol 12 Page 16 where there is a William DURAS / DURN who seems to fit. Hopefully you may be able to confirm or refute this because he is living with his sister and brother-in-law. Someone else has obviously looked at this family because the transcribed name has had an alternative spelling added by a John Perry just a few days ago. Assuming it was in the north east of Shropshire then any marriage licence will be at Lichfield Record Office http://www.staffordshire.gov.uk/leisure/archives/contact/LichfieldRecordOffice/ Mike ________________________________ On 10/03/2011 16:28, Jan wrote: > I have been looking for a marriage of Robert Wade and Ellen his wife.
