Hello Marilyn Shropshire does not have the BMD indexes like the Cheshire BMD. I would suggest that your best way of buying a marriage certificate is through the General Register office at http://www.gro.gov.uk/gro/content/ then click Ordering certificates online at the bottom of the page. You will be able to use the reference number you have found online and also pay by credit card which will be much more convenient for you. Hi Ray The last I heard of her was in 2001. Her email address will be on the Eng-Shropshire archives for 2001, but I would suspect it is the same as the one you tried. Good luck Graham

Barbara, Seeing the middle name of Edward b 1822, you may already be aware of it, but just in case, there are quite a few MANTLE's in Radnorshire (Powys) who occasionally get mentioned on the POWYS-L@rootsweb.com - just a thought Graham -----Original Message----- From: Barbara Cocker [mailto:cockertoo@iinet.net.au] Sent: 04 May 2006 05:20 To: ENG-SHROPSHIRE-PLUS-L@rootsweb.com Subject: [ENG-SHROP] WEAVER - I am trying to find some information on the WEAVER family They were on the border of Shropshire and Herefordshire Edward WEAVER b 1789 Neen Savage married Margaret about 1820 Children Edward Mantle 1822 Ann 1826 Thomas 1831 Samuel 1832 Sarah 1835 all born Farlow Shropshire/Herefordshire Edward Mantle WEAVER married Susannah ARNOLD in Kidderminster in 1846 Any information on this family would be very much appreciated Barbara Perth Australia ==== ENG-SHROPSHIRE-PLUS Mailing List ==== TO post a message to the list for *every* subscriber to read, please *always* use - ENG-SHROPSHIRE-PLUS-L@rootsweb.com ============================== Search the US Census Collection. Hello All, I have just subscribed to this list and hope that someone might have access to the Wroxeter parish records and be able to do a lookup for me. On the IGI there is a marriage on 17 Sep 1793 of a Richard CANLIN and Ann WRIGHT. I wonder if I might have the information that is noted in the marriage record. Perhaps if might list where Richard was from and who the witnesses were, if other than church personnel. Thank you Sharon in sunny Arizona
Hello I am new to this List as my research has taken me over the border. I am looking for information about Benjamin BEDDOES who appears in Pride Hill Shrewsbury in the 1901 census aged 30 and is listed as being born in Marshbrook. I have tried for his baptism in Wistanstow, Acton Scott and Church Stretton but have drawn a blank. I am currently awaiting his marriage cert from the GRO. I was wondering if anyone else is searching this same family or has come across them in their research.. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Regards Maureen Grigg Montgomeryshire.
Hi all, Bit of a long shot but - a lady by the name of Pamela Welch was researching the BINNERSLEY familey a few years ago - I picked up on this from another board some time ago but haven't been successful in tracing her - original emails bounced back. Has anyone come across her? Ray

Is there a record office in Shropshire ? Les
Hello David There is an old cemetery in Whixall about 1/3 mile south of St Mary's church. If you have an Ordnance Survey map the Grid Reference is SJ 516 344. Hi Sandi, who said; > I have a brick wall I want to break down. > In the 1851 census I have the following HO/07/989 page 14 Madeley Wood > Sarah POTTS and Andrew POTTS plus Elizabeth DELVES Aunt, widow, 81, pauper. > Andrew would have been born 1811 and Sarah 1818. > Are you working from an inaccurate transcript? My interpretation of that census page is completely different. I believe it says; Sarah POTTS, Head, Unmar, 46, Unable to write. Andrew POTTS, Uncle, (status?), 85, Waggoner receiving relief. Elizabeth DELVES? Aunt, Widow, 81, Pauper. All born in Broseley. So, guessing that Elizabeth's maiden name was POTTS, on the IGI can be found the Christening of Elis. POTT on 8 Sept 1771. Also Andrew POTT on 7 Feb 1769. Both children of John & Elis. POTT, at St. Leonard's Broseley. Sarah POTTS, their niece (the other person on the above 1851 census) was Christened 21 April 1805 at St. Leonard's Broseley. Daughter of George & Mary POTT who also Christened at least four other children there. So George POTT is the brother to Andrew and Elizabeth plus many other children born to John & Elis. POTT as you will see on the IGI. Finally, on the 1841 Madeley Wood census there is; George POTT, age 65. Sarah POTT, age 35. George POTT, age 20. Tile maker. All born in County. Hope it helps, Gwynne Chadwick Transcribing the Bridgnorth town census. http://www.chadwickg.freeserve.co.uk

I am trying to find out something about the above named property and the family that lived their. My GG Grandmother Martha PRICE is recorded on the 1871 census as being a General Servant for the COOK family who resided there. She was aged 17 years and unmarried. I would like to try and find out if there are any photographs of the place or records that I could access about staff who worked there. Any help, contacts or suggestions are gratefully recieved.
