    3. Hi Jill Thanks for the look up offer If you could look for a marriage for John Mathews ~1814-1817 would be great- hopefully there aren't many to search through The first child I've found was George born Dec 1817 in Burford so the marriage would be 1817 or earlier. I have a number where the marriage took place AFTER the first child was born, one by as much as four years. I have another marriage where the couple already had two children before getting married. So, if a search in the years prior to the birth of the first child isn't successful, try the years following that birth. Good luck! Esther

    1. [ENG-SHROP] ADMINISTRATION
    2. Dave Jassie
    3. Hi folks, A few days ago Rootsweb changed their list mailing system to "Mailman" and it seems to be causing a little confusion to both admins and subscribers alike, so please be patient as there appears to be a number of teething problems. I currently admin over 70 lists and have been going through them alphabetically changing the default settings and restoring 'Welcome' messages, prepends, etc. to something like the previous ones. At long last I have reached "S" No, I haven't been on holiday or been ill. I have had to fit my unpaid, voluntary Rootsweb duties in between things like work, sleep, meals and, well, living. The thing that seems to be of concern to some of you is the format in which you receive 'Digests' There are 2 options for you to choose from. 1. Plain text, which delivers the digest with a Table of Contents at the top and a listing of full-text e-mails below. 2. MIME format which delivers the digests as e-mail 'attachments' I would like to invite those of you subscribed in 'Digest' mode to let me know PRIVATELY which format you prefer. The list default is currently set to 'Plain' Dave Jassie - dave.jassie@ntlworld.com Why not visit 'Gen-Links' - http://freepages.misc.rootsweb.com/~jassie/index.html

Am I the only one who is not having any trouble? All is well on my computer screen. Messages come in as perfect as they did before. Or is it because I did not originally subscribe to Digest mode but individual message mode, which used to be L? Is that the problem with the recent Rootsweb changes? Anyway, Mike, I am sure it will all be sorted out very shortly. Like any change, things take time to settle down. (And no, people just can 't leave things alone if working okay -- that seems to be the big hiccup in human nature!) Cheers Graham Melbourne Oz

    3. Hi there A question for the administrator of the list. Now that Rootsweb have changed eng-shropshire-plus-L@rootsweb.com to eng-shropshire-plus-@rootsweb.com, how does a new person subscribe? Or even one unsubscribe and then re-subscribe? I go to the Rootsweb main page and see that our list is still viewed as plus-L! No change! Confusing? Help! Cheers Graham

    3. If sks has access to Baschurch records I would very much appreciate a lookup. George MATHEWS was bap in dec 1817 in Burford parents John MATHEWS and Susan/Susannah, but I can't find a marriage in Burford. I have found a possible match on the census for John and Susan - John may have been born in Baschurch, but Baschurch marriages aren't on the IGI I would love to find a marriage for John MATHEWS and Susan/Susannah ~1815. They may also have been married in Shrewsbury as they were living there 1851-1861 regards Barbara

    3. Hi Barbara I will likely be going to Shropshire Archives either next week or the week after and will be checking the Baschurch PRs as many of my ancestors lived there. If you don't hear from anyone else, I can certainly check 1815 for a John Mathews marriage. Shrewsbury is a bit more difficult as there are so many possibilities, also many Shrewsbury marriages are on the IGI.
