Does anyone on this list live near, or are familiar with, Old Saint Chad's in Shrewsbury? I have several ancestors buried "within the Chapel of the Blessed Lady" at St. Chad's. I have read that the old church collapsed in the 1700's and a new Church was built in a different location. My ancestors would have been buried in late 1500's to early 1600's, long before the new church was built. Are there any existing tombs or monuments in the Old Saint Chad Church area? I'm researching LUTER. By the way, I live in Southeast Texas near Beaumont. Glad to help out anyone needing info from this area. Shirley Luther
Susan, I have a couple of Lutner/Lutener if they would be of any interest to you. Cynthia "Rosine, Susan" <Susan.Rosine@nordstrom.com> wrote: Is anyone on this List researching the LUTER surname? Hi! 3 Victoria Street would have been...in fact still is, a mid terraced 2 up-2 down cottage. Are you sure it wasn't Victoria Road? Victoria Rd would have been more suited as buisness premises. Saira BTW Vic Street joins Vic Rd! www.hornerscorner.co.uk

Hi Susan, I am beginning to gather info on Luter's from Shropshire. Right now, I'm just in the collecting stage. I'll post my findings on the Lewter list for all to share. By the way, next summer I am going to England and hope to take a day to visit Shropshire and Shrewsbury. I'm trying to nail down possible graves, etc before I go. Won't have time to do research but I will get pictures of anything that pertains to Luters in that area. Shirley (new Luter) Luther
I would be happy to help but one must remember that there is a 100 year moritorium on that type of record in CAN. However if you have a location where they may have lived it would help as I can look up telephone book records. Remember CAN is 3000 miles wide and is larger than the US. Ross GH Cotton, Burlington ON CAN 905)639-2929 Genealogy of the COTTON surname is my Enigma. I haven't sent an attachment if the details are not mentioned above. Hi Shirley! I didn't realize you were on this List! How wonderful! Hi Cynthia! I've never come across the LUTER name turning into Lutner, but you never know! I would be interested, if you wouldn't mind passing the info along. Maybe one of these days I will find a connection. I forgot to mention that I would guess that Park Issa in Whittington is actually the "Park Farm" on the censuses??? However none of the names you are looking for appear there. Ian

The railway was extended from Ruabon to Shrewsbury in about 1848 and probably cut off Park Issa from Park Hall. 'Issa' or 'Isaf' is Welsh for 'lowest', implying its geographic position on the estate, but would be more little to be translated to 'Lower Park' or 'Nether Park' in English. So there may be a connection there? Ian
Hi Graham, Thanks so much for your direction. I will work out what I need from the list. Would you think Prees and Whixall would cover the Prees/Whixall birthplaces or would I need Wem as well?
