Hello Graham, I read with interest your mail re: Llansilin records in the Victoria State Library. If its not too late, or too much trouble, I would be grateful if you could look for a record of the marriage between Robert Edwards,b. 1795 & Elizabeth ? b. 1798. Their first child was born in 1820, so the marriage may have been prior to this date. Regards, Derek.
Whoops, sorry about that, slip of the brain, or fingers! Graham
Hi Charles All census data for Australia was burnt as soon as it was checked. Disastrous! They certainly did not follow the old rules and regs of good old Britain. Still the same today, though now it is probably shredded. However, in our State Library of Melbourne in Vic., there is a 1900-1901 electoral roll for NSW. I doubt if it will show much, just the name of the head of the household and the address -- that's all the early one's did. Next trip into our State Library I shall have a look for you, and anything else I might be able to check. If there is anything else you can think of, please feel free to mail. Cheers for now Graham At 03:41 AM 18/10/2006, you wrote: >Hello Graham, > >I am looking for information on the early life of John Cameron Hazlett >Sankey, who was born to an unmarried connection of mine, Helen/Helena >Elizabeth Sankey at 233 Goulburn Street, Sydney in 1897. Thanks, What period are you talking about? Have you had a look on www.familysearch.org to see if the parish registers have been filmed? If they have, you'll be able to get the film and have a look at it at your nearest LDS FHC. You can find out where that is, if you don't already know, from the familysearch site as well. If that isn't an option then, post 1837, you have www.freebmd.org.uk or www.ancestry.co.uk or www.familyrelatives.org or www.1837online.com Otherwise someone may be able to help if they have the relevant discs or fiche that cover the parish. Why not post up the names and dates you're looking for? -- Charani (UK)
Today I found the baptism for Sarah CADMAN on the film for Wombridge I had hoped to find a burial for her father in 1838/1839 so that I can find out his age and hopefully his birthdate and parents. But there was a 20 year gap on the film and I can't see another film that would cover those dates. Any suggestions as to where else I can look before I decide which death certificate might be his. regards Barbara
Hello Graham, I am looking for information on the early life of John Cameron Hazlett Sankey, who was born to an unmarried connection of mine, Helen/Helena Elizabeth Sankey at 233 Goulburn Street, Sydney in 1897. Was there a census of NSWaround 1901, and if so, do the records exist? I believe 233 Goulburn St was some sort of home for unmarried mothers. Sorry this is not a Shropshire question, though Helen Elizabeth's father came from Ludlow. Regards, Charles Sankey
Thank you. Thaat thought occurred too, but I have been through everyone in Alberbury (on Ancestry) - a most confusing parish since the greater part is in Shropshire and the rest in Montgomeryshire. The family that Roy is looking for lived in ED2 which is not on Ancestry's site. This idea that Ancestry offer "complete" censuses is simply not true! I have just had to purchase the 1851 Denbighshire census on CD from S&N Genealogy because Ancestry do not have the 1851 census for Ruabon on-line. I informed Ancestry of this missing parish several months ago but, as their policy is not to reply to emails (confirmed by their own staff at the Family History Fair 2006 in London), I have no idea if they intend doing anything about it! Hi Mike My 3x gt grandfather John Bason was born in Lydbury, his brother Charles was born in Bishop's Castle. They moved out of the area. John joined the army and moved to Newcastle under lyme and Charles married in Stanton Lacy and moved to Ludlow. Thanks for the offer of help about Bishops Castle but at the moment i have very little info and no definite evidence they were actually ever at Bishop's Castle. Hi all, I would appreciate hearing from anyone researching the Lloyd family in and around the Shrewsbury area. Trevor Lloyd www.trevlloyd.co.uk
Thomas CASEWELL born about 1798 in Edgmond, Shropshire - died 1875 in Hodnet. I believe he married Mary Ann (?) about 1805 at Eccleshall, Staffordshire, Mary Ann died about 1877 in Hodnet. They had 5 children all born in Hodnet, Shropshire. Could SKS please help me find Thomas CASEWELL's parents and Mary Ann's family. Thanks Barbara

They married in Parish Church of Ellesmere. Humphrey was a slater and they gradually moved to Dudleston, to Shrewsbury by 1811 the birth of their 5th child, David. Parts of this family, 4 boys when grown, moved to Lancashire. They were bricklayers and joiners. One son, Peter moved to Derbyshire. The 2 daughters named Elizabeth and Martha were born at Castle Forgate. In all Humphrey and Elizabeth had 9 children that I know of. Rebekka 1803 Peter 1804 John 1806 Edward 1809 David 1811 Joseph 1813 Daniel 1815 Elizabeth 1817 Martha 1819 A POSSIBLE WILLIAM I have been unable to find Humphrey's or Elizabeth's deaths. He is not on the 1841. Anything familiar to anyone? I would be pleased to hear. Kind Regards, Marjorie Lloyd Thompson in Nevada, USA I cannot seem to get any where with his ancestors.
Good I'm glad it was the right family. I fond them on the 1837 website in the 1891 census. They have the full 1861,a partial 1871 and some of the 1841 census too. Carol Buchan
